Razavi presents his book as the first comprehensive survey of ‘Omar Ḫayyām’s life and works in English for the Western reader. He endeavours to reconstruct Khayyam’s multiple identities (Chap. 1 to 3) which he sees compromised mainly by later interpreters, both in the East and the West.
