Résumé
The very scarce evidence for the presence of Medes and Persians in Transcaucasia is presented here, with good attention on where the lack of material poses problems. There is a review of material and epigraphic evidence from Urartu, Mannea and Media from the 7th to the end of the 4th century BC and subsequently of what is known to this date within Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaidjan. Most of the discoveries made within Transcaucasia are attributed so far to the imperial Achaemenid horizon.
