Harold W. Bailey thought that Khotanese P2787.28 haräysa and P 2787.58 ttaira haraysä correspond, though not regularly, to Avestan (taēra-) harā-bǝrǝz- etc. and that the denomination of Old Iranian descent is used to refer to the Mount Sumeru of Buddhist cosmology. Such an attractive idea found its way into a number of books and articles on Zoroastrianism until quite recently.
