Another contribution to the growing literature on the role of Armenians in early modern commerce, this article transcribes a commercial document in the Armenian archives of all Saviour’s Monastery in New Julfa, dating from 1729, and uses its contents to discuss the characteristics and the reasons for the success of the Armenians business community throughout Asia. The authors also provide some information on the complex accounting system used by Armenian merchants.
