The volume contains 33 articles in memory of Ronald E. Emmerick (1937-2001), who devoted most of his research to the study of the Khotanese language and texts and was Professor of Iranian Philology at Hamburg University from 1971 to his untimely death. An appreciation of the scholar and a bibliography of his writings up to 2005 open the volume (pp. XIII-XIX and XXI-XLII).
