D.Q. identifies the Maitrī-bhāvanā-prakaraṇa of the Chinese Buddhist canon (no. 306 in the Taishō ed.) as a parallel to chap. 3 of the Book of Zambasta. She provides a complete comparison of the Chinese and Khotanese texts and suggests some reinterpretations (verses 14-15, 33, 53, 73, 141, 144). According to her the Khotanese and Chinese versions are based on different recensions of the text, whose Indian original is lost.
