This is a report about the excavations conducted by the Iranian Italian Joint Expedition in Khuzestan on the site of Kal-e Chendar in the Shami valley, Khuzestan, where the famous Shami statue was originally found. The investigation revealed a series of terraces placed at different elevations, probably supporting large buildings with religious functions.
