In this short but concise and very informative paper, Simpson illustrates the history of use of cosmetic in the Middle East. This overview does not stop to list the results of various isotopic analysis carried out on the different pigments found, but it also examines different tradition of storing cosmetics. Past is closely entwined with the present as some cosmetic flasks are among the items identified and returned by the British Museum while monitoring illicit trafficking of antiquities. T...
