Lysimachea (modern-day Bolayır) was a Hellenistic city located in the neck where the Gallipoli peninsula (Thracian Chersonese) joins the European mainland. After the death of Alexander the Great, his enormously vast empire was divided up, and the regions of Thrace and Northwestern Asia Minor fell to Lysimachus.
