Find Place and Preservation The following gem (Fig. 1) – a red jasper with black ribbons, measuring 17 x 13 x 3 mm and weighing 1.26 g – is preserved in the Istanbul Archaeological Museums. It was found during a rescue excavation in the Province of Istanbul, district of Eminönü, in the quarter of Cankurtaran, in Akbıyık Hamamı Street (map sheet 60, parcel 57).
