L’opération de Bezannes, Le Bas Torchant se situe en périphérie sud-ouest de l’agglomération de Reims-Durocortorum. Elle a permis de mettre en évidence l’extrémité orientale d’un site essentiellement organisé autour de structures en creux. La vocation agricole semble à privilégier, même si l’organisation apparemment assez atypique des aménagements soulève diverses interrogations. Le rare mobilier céramique indique une occupation essentiellement centrée sur le Bas-Empire. Il provient pour l’essentiel d’une vaste fosse qui a également livré de nombreux restes osseux de bovins, attestant le traitement de plusieurs carcasses sur place ou à proximité.

Le Bas Torchant at Bezannes lies on the south-west edge of the agglomeration of Reims-Durocortorum. It has revealed the eastern tip of a site essentially organized around hollow structures. Agriculture seems to have been prevalent even though the atypical organization of the facilities raises a few questions. The rare ceramic goods found indicate occupation for the most part during the Late Empire. Most of these goods were found in a large trench that also contained a large number of cattle bones, indicating the treatment of several carcasses on the spot or nearby.

Bei der Ausgrabung in Bezannes „Le Bas Torchant“ an der Südwestgrenze von Reims-Durocortorum wurde der äußerste Osten eines hauptsächlich um zwei eingetiefte Strukturen organisierten Areals entdeckt. Eine landwirtschaftliche Nutzung scheint offensichtlich, selbst wenn die anscheinend recht untypische Organisation der Anlagen mehrere Fragen aufwirft. Das seltene Keramikmobiliar weist auf eine Besiedlung, die sich auf die späte Kaiserzeit zu konzentrieren scheint. Es stammt überwiegend aus einer großen Grube, die außerdem zahlreiche Rinderknochen geliefert hat, was darauf hinweist, dass hier oder in der Nähe mehrere Rinderkarkassen verarbeitet wurden.
