Profile of Gambella Region Gambella region is located in western Ethiopia about 780 kilometres from the national capital, Addis Ababa. Its current land size covers 25,274 square kilometres, consisting of nine weredas. According to the 1994 Census, the population of Gambella region is estimated at 200,000.
