Na formação do lugar do convento dos Franciscanos Capuchos de Alferrara, o tempo e a paisagem revelaram-se fundamentais. O tempo, proporcionando o movimento das sombras que regrava a vida conventual, permanece intocável nos espaços cuja natureza envolvente foi redesenhando a paisagem. O complexo conventual permanece em ruína, num silêncio que se afigura incómodo para alguns, mas que escutamos atentamente.Neste artigo é apresentado o convento dos Capuchos e sua envolvente paisagística como uma paisagem cultural a ser escutada. E nesse sentido se explicita a metodologia de intervenção, primeira acção que deriva de um abrangente Plano Director de Salvaguarda do Conjunto Arquitectónico e Paisagístico. Programado a 25 anos, este Plano permitirá uma lenta e partilhada chegada do futuro, propondo que se assegure a integridade da memória temporal presente na materialidade e no eco que ressoa das paredes de múltiplas texturas, onde os desprendimentos artísticos e sensoriais revelam os ciclos sobrepostos de vidas que ali ocorreram. A ética de intervenção delineada está para além da materialidade inscrevendo-a num contexto poético e filosófico, almejando que as esculturas arquitectónicas de um tempo perdido perdurem no lugar.

Time and the landscape were found to be decisive in the establishment of the place of the convent Franciscan Capuchins of Alferrara. Time, providing the movement of the shadows that rewrites the conventual life, remains untouchable in the spaces where the surrounding nature has been redesigning the landscape. The convent complex remains in ruins, in a silence that although it might seem to be uncomfortable for some, we listen attentively.The convent and its surrounding landscape are presented as a cultural landscape to be listen to. In this sense, the intervention methodology, as the first action that derives from a comprehensive Master Plan for the Safeguarding of the Architectural and Landscape, is explicitly explained. Scheduled to last for 25 years, this Plan will allow a slow and shared arrival of the future, proposing to ensure the integrity of the temporal memory present in the existing material values and in the echo that resonates from the walls, in its multiple textures. Here, the artistic and sensorial detachments reveal the superimposed cycles of lives that occurred in this place. The intervention ethics established for this intervention is beyond materiality, inscribing it in a poetic and philosophical context, hoping that the architectural sculptures of a lost time will remain in place.
