Abstract
This paper examines interactional sequences concerning routine situations of police investigation in which objects are no longer considered as personal belongings when they come under public scrutiny. The author studies the complex relationship between affordances, actions and activity context, showing that objects play a key role in setting up and maintaining the participation framework.
