La mise à jour de la carte archéologique dévoile la richesse du tissu d’occupation du territoire qui donne naissance à l’atelier de potiers. Comprendre le site tel qu’il nous est livré à la fin du xxe s. nécessite de suivre son histoire, depuis l’Antiquité, au travers des documents d’archives qui jalonnent le devenir de ce terroir rural. L’économie de la fouille s’organise autour des prospections de surface (électrique, magnétique, cartographie des objets apparents) qui fournissent au préalable et dans d’excellentes conditions ici, une vision globale de l’architecture du site : un atelier important (2,5 ha), fortement structuré, où se juxtaposent et s’articulent un habitat, un centre artisanal (11 fours) et une carrière d’argile. Ce premier volume est consacré au quartier artisanal.

Updating of the sites and monuments record has revealed just how rich has been the occupation of the site on which the production centre was built. Understanding the site as it appears to us now at the end of the XXth century implies tracing its history back to Antiquity through the archives marking the different stages in the development of this rural area. The work of excavation is organized around surface prospections (electric and magnetic surveys and mapping of visible objects) for which conditions here are excellent and which provide from the outset an overall view of the architecture of the site : a large workshop area (2.5 hectares), clearly structured, including and associating a settlement, a workshop (11 kilns) and a claypit. This first volume concentrates on a study of the production complex.
