L’applicazione del metodo combinatorio (ricerca sui manoscritti di G. Marini e di E.Q. Visconti, rilievo fotogrammetrico delle epigrafi, analisi tecnica dell’impianto termale, revisione dei vecchi scavi e dell’ampia bibliografia sull’argomento) offre nuovi dati per la contestualizzazione di CIL XIV, 98 e CIL XIV, 137. Lo studio delle fasi architettoniche dell’edificio e dei manoscritti di Visconti conservato alla Bibliothèque Nationale de France ha consentito di ricondurre CIL XIV, 98 alla fase di impianto delle Terme di Porta Marina (iniziate da Adriano e terminate da Antonino Pio nel 139 d.C.). Per quanto riguarda la seconda epigrafe, conservata presso i Musei Capitolini, l’individuazione di due frammenti inediti conservati nei depositi del Parco Archeologico di Ostia, ha permesso di completarne il testo e di proporne l’attribuzione alla grande piscina absidata del frigidarium del terme.

The use of the combinatorial method (research on the manuscripts of G. Marini and E.Q. Visconti, photogrammetric survey of the inscriptions, technical analysis of the baths, reconsideration of the old excavations and of the extensive bibliography on the subject) offers new data for the contextualization of inscriptions CIL XIV, 98 and CIL XIV, 137. According to the architectural phases study of building and Visconti's manuscripts, that are preserved at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the CIL XIV, 98 has led back to the early phases of the Baths of the Porta Marina (started by Adriano and finished by Antonino Pio in 139 A.D.). With regard to the second epigraph preserved in the Capitoline Museums, the identification of two unpublished fragments preserved in the warehouses of the Archaeological Park of Ostia, has led to the completion of the text and to propose its attribution to the large apsidal pool of the frigidarium.
