Prolongeant un projet célèbre du xviiie siècle, dont l’origine remonte en particulier à Leibniz, Condorcet a rédigé peu avant sa mort un « Essai d’une langue universelle », qui constituait un fragment de son grand Tableau historique inachevé. L’étude par G.-G. Granger, dans les années 1950, de ce manuscrit (encore largement inédit), privilégie les liens entre les sciences mathématiques et les formulations algébriques et logiques. Nous esquissons ici une approche plus globale, en attendant l’édition en cours du Tableau historique avec tous ses fragments.

Prolonging a famous eighteenth-century project, the origin of which goes back particularly to Leibniz, Condorcet, shortly before his death, wrote an « Essai d’une langue universelle », which constituted a fragment of his great unfinished Tableau historique. G.-G. Granger’s study of this still largely unpublished manuscript in the 1950s privileged the connections between the mathematical sciences and the algebraic and logical formulations. We sketch a more complete approach here, while awaiting the edition of the Tableau historique that is in progress and which will publish all the fragments.
