Mu’ta is situated 11 km to the south of al‑Kerak (longitude λ=35.68, latitude Ф= 31.20) at an elevation of about 1100 m asl. Mu’ta witnessed the confrontation of the first well-organized Muslim forces against the Byzantine army and its allied tribes.
