The site and the excavations The prehistoric tell near the town of Smyadovo was excavated from 1974 to 1990 by Nedelcho Popov, who published part of the finds. The tell is known by the name of “Dyado Zlateva mogila” or “Nazlamova mogila”, and is located in the Golyam Yordan locality. The thickness of its cultural layer is 3.90 m.
