Cet article a pour but de montrer le fonctionnement du système de contrôle sur les offices qui géraient de l’argent public de la commune de Bologne à la fin du xiiie siècle. L’analyse veut mettre en évidence trois éléments : qui s’occupait du contrôle ; qui était contrôlé ; quels étaient les mécanismes du contrôle (circulation des registres et des pièces justificatives d’un office à l’autre et la circulation d’argent public). Cette étude a pu montrer aussi qui avait la faculté de dépenser de l’argent public, et en quelle mesure.

This article aims to show the workings of the system of auditing of the officials who managed the public money of the commune of Bologna at the end of the 13th century. Our analysis highlights three elements: who the auditors were, who were the people who were audited and finally, the auditing mechanism itself (circulation of ledgers and supporting documents from one department to the other and circulation of public money). Furthermore, this study show who had the power to spend public money and to what degree.
