L’article cerne la place et le statut des enfants dans un dispositif expérimental de sortie scolaire élaboré spécifiquement pour cette recherche et basé sur une approche multisensorielle. Il s’agit de montrer comment la dimension sensible permet, en sortie, de centrer les apprentissages sur les enfants, condition à leur réussite en géographie scolaire. La méthodologie utilisée connecte précisément le sensoriel et la production de savoir. Travailler la géographie en sortie, c’est cultiver la subjectivité des enfants pour construire, affirmer et affermir une certaine géographicité dans le rapport au monde.

The aim of the article is to understand the place and the status of the children in an action-research experiment based on geography school outings which have been specifically designed for, and based on, a multisensory approach. The objective, during these outings, is to show how the sensory dimension can be at the heart of the children’s learning process, which is a prerequisite for success in teaching geography. The methodology used links specifically the sensory with the production of knowledge. First and foremost, geography is a spatial relationship with the world. The best way of working at geography on school outings is to cultivate the children’s subjectivity in order to construct, to state and to consolidate a certain “geographicity” in their relationship to the world.
