Résumé
The question before us today is : “Is The Handmaid’s Tale a feminist dystopia ?” In order to answer this question we will have to begin by asking “What is feminist ?” ; “What is a dystopia ?” and then we can decide. First, “what is feminist ?” “Feminist” is now like “Christian”, by which I mean it is one of those terms that has developed so many different meanings that we don’t know what we’re talking about unless we become more precise.
