L’émergence d’une identité culturelle hybride : l’écriture turco-chypriote

La présente communication explore la stratégie politique de soutien aux frontières culturelles, par le moyen de la poésie. Le dialogue poétique pose les bases des relations intercommunautaires et favorise leur développement. Cet échange de biens culturels entre des poètes et des lecteurs de double culture constitue une « tentative de communication » entre les deux communautés, une forme substantielle de communication à travers la poésie qui contribue à lever les oppositions raciales, nationales, linguistiques, religieuses et historiques. L’osmose culturelle, ce que la critique théorique contemporaine appelle hybridité culturelle, est cultivée de plus en plus systématiquement entre les deux communautés, ce qui ressort des nouvelles publications, extrêmement intéressantes, de poésie gréco-chypriote et turco-chypriote. C’est un événement d’importance littéraire, mais aussi historico-politique que la parution récente de deux importantes anthologies bilingues constituées par d’éminents auteurs-traducteurs. La question centrale, c’est, en fait, l’élargissement de la multiplicité, de la souplesse et de la nature de l’identité culturelle chypriote. L’identité culturelle « chypriote » des Turco-chypriotes, telle qu’ils la comprennent eux-mêmes principalement, en se différenciant de leur identité turque, est liée à l’élargissement de l’horizon linguistique et culturel de l’écriture chypriote. Pour ce qui est de la question de savoir dans quelle mesure il est possible sur le plan littéraire de regrouper les deux formes d’expression sous le terme générique de « littérature chypriote », dès lors que ce dernier présuppose un sentiment d’identité linguistique, politique et plus largement culturelle, au-delà du fait que l’hétérodéfinition est malaisée, la réponse nous est donnée par les Turco-chypriotes eux-mêmes, par leur poésie, qui constitue le prolongement le plus authentique de leur identité sociale (intérêt pour le pays natal blessé, utilisation des symboles mythiques et historiques de l’île, etc.). L’écriture turco-chypriote contemporaine s’épanouit dans un environnement multiculturel et plurilinguistique et utilise fréquemment l’outil linguistique de l’Autre, pour diverses raisons, sociales, historiques, politiques, professionnelles, etc. La présente communication examine les points de vue critiques qui ont été formulés sur la question de l’identité et de l’écriture turco-chypriote. Il serait intéressant de discuter plus largement les points de vue critiques concernant les différences de réceptivité entre les poètes gréco-chypriotes, dépositaires de la longue tradition littéraire grecque moderne, et turco-chypriotes, dont la poésie a un autre point de départ. L’annexe comprend une petite anthologie illustrant les recherches thématiques les plus constantes dans les poèmes turco-chypriotes (traduits en français).

This study sets out to trace the political strategy for defending cultural boundaries through poetry. Poetic dialogue defines the qualitative formation and development of intercommunal relations. The exchange of cultural capital amongst intercultural poets and readers constitutes an "attempt at communication" between the two communities, an essential form of communication through poetry that acts by accelerating the elimination of racial, ethnic, linguistic, religious and historical conflicts and differences. Cultural osmosis, what modern critical theory calls cultural hybridization, is being more and more systematically fostered between the two communities, and this is apparent from the exceptionally interesting, new editions of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot poetry. An event, we might say, of literary and also historico-political significance is the recent bilingual edition of two major anthologies of Greek Cypriot poetry in Turkish and Turkish Cypriot poetry in Greek, recently compiled by renowned authors – translators. The central theme in essence explores the multiplicity, fluidity and nature of the Cypriot cultural identity. The “Cypriot” cultural identity of Turkish Cypriots, as perceived primarily by themselves, distinct from their Turkish identity, is linked to the expansion of the linguistic and cultural horizon of Cypriot script. Regarding the question as to how far it is literarily feasible for the two sides to come under the more general umbrella term of “Cypriot literature”, provided the term implies a sense of linguistic, political and more generally cultural identity, despite the fact that hetero determination is difficult, our answer is provided by the Turkish Cypriots themselves with their poetry that comprises the most genuine extension of their social identity (interest in the wounded birthplace, use of the island’s mythical and historical symbols, etc.). Modern Turkish Cypriot script is being nurtured in a multicultural and multilingual environment and often uses the language tool of the Other, for various reasons that may be social, historical, political, professional, etc. The paper presents the critical views expressed on the matter of Turkish Cypriot script and the identity of Cypriot literature. It would be of interest to further study the differences in receptivity between Greek Cypriot poets, carriers of the long Modern Greek literary tradition, and Turkish Cypriots, whose poetry stems from another source. The Appendix contains a selection of representative Turkish Cypriot poems (translated into French).

Η παρούσα μελέτη ανιχνεύει την πολιτική στρατηγική υπεράσπισης των πολιτισμικών συνόρων, μέσω της ποίησης. Ο ποιητικός διάλογος οριοθετεί την ποιοτικότερη διαμόρφωση και εξέλιξη των διακοινοτικών σχέσεων. Η ανταλλαγή πολιτισμικού κεφαλαίου ανάμεσα σε αμφιπολιτισμικούς ποιητές και αναγνώστες συνιστά μιαν «απόπειρα επικοινωνίας» ανάμεσα στις δύο κοινότητες, μια ουσιαστική μορφή επικοινωνίας μέσα από την ποίηση που λειτουργεί ως καταλύτης άρσης των φυλετικών, εθνοτικών, γλωσσικών, θρησκευτικών, ιστορικών αντιθέσεων και διαφορών. Η πολιτισμική όσμωση, αυτό που η σύγχρονη κριτική θεωρία ονομάζει πολιτισμικό υβριδισμό, καλλιεργείται ολοένα και πιο συστηματικά ανάμεσα στις δύο κοινότητες, όπως φαίνεται από τις εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρουσες νέες εκδόσεις ελληνοκυπριακής και τουρκοκυπριακής ποίησης. Γεγονός, θα λέγαμε, γραμματολογικής αλλά και ιστορικοπολιτικής σημασίας αποτελεί η πρόσφατη δίγλωσση έκδοση δύο σημαντικών ανθολογιών ελληνοκυπριακής ποίησης στα τουρκικά και τουρκοκυπριακής ποίησης στα ελληνικά που συγκροτήθηκαν από διακεκριμένους συγγραφείς - μεταφραστές. Το κεντρικό ερώτημα είναι, στην ουσία, η διερεύνηση της πολλαπλότητας, της ρευστότητας και της φύσης της κυπριακής πολιτισμικής ταυτότητας. Η «κυπριακή» πολιτισμική ταυτότητα των τουρκοκυπρίων, όπως την αντιλαμβάνονται κυρίως οι ίδιοι, διαφοροποιούμενοι από την τουρκική τους ταυτότητα, συνδέεται με τη διεύρυνση του γλωσσικού και του πολιτισμικού ορίζοντα της κυπριακής γραφής. Ως προς το ερώτημα του κατά πόσον είναι γραμματολογικά εφικτή η συστέγαση των δύο μερών υπό τον γενικότερο όρο «κυπριακή λογοτεχνία», εφόσον ο όρος προϋποθέτει ένα αίσθημα ταυτότητας γλωσσικής, πολιτικής και ευρύτερα πολιτισμικής, παρά το γεγονός ότι ο ετεροπροσδιορισμός είναι δύσκολος, την απάντηση μας τη δίνουν οι ίδιοι οι τουρκοκύπριοι με την ποίησή τους που αποτελεί τη γνησιότερη προέκταση της κοινωνικής τους ταυτότητας (ενδιαφέρον για τον τραυματισμένο γενέθλιο τόπο, χρήση των μυθικών και ιστορικών συμβόλων του νησιού, κλπ.). Η σύγχρονη τουρκοκυπριακή γραφή καλλιεργείται σ’ ένα πολυπολιτιστικό - πολυγλωσσικό περιβάλλον και χρησιμοποιεί συχνά το γλωσσικό εργαλείο του Άλλου, για ποικίλους λόγους κοινωνικούς, ιστορικούς, πολιτικούς, επαγγελματικούς, κ.ο.κ.Στην ανακοίνωση παρουσιάζονται οι κριτικές απόψεις που έχουν διατυπωθεί πάνω στο ζήτημα της τουρκοκυπριακής γραφής και της ταυτότητας της κυπριακής λογοτεχνίας. Θα είχε ενδιαφέρον να μελετηθούν ευρύτερα οι διαφορές δεκτικότητας ανάμεσα στους ελληνοκύπριους ποιητές, φορείς της μακράς νεοελληνικής λογοτεχνικής παράδοσης και τους τουρκοκύπριους η ποίηση των οποίων αφορμάται από άλλη αφετηρία. Σε παράρτημα ανθολογούνται (σε γαλλική μετάφραση) αντιπροσωπευτικά τουρκοκυπριακά ποιήματα.
