Sneharika Roy, « Shining in “Paradoxical Splendor”: The Staging of the “difficult Relation” in Faulkner’s Sagas as a Prefiguration of Postcolonial Epic », Commonwealth Essays and Studies, ID : 10.4000/ces.5132
Édouard Glissant’s key contribution to questions of “crossing” lies in his critical awareness that more often than not, hybridity is not the product of fluid passages, but rather, of opacity – particularly in the context of William Faulkner’s work. Paradoxically, it is by proposing epics of aporetic impermeability and “of the difficult Relation” that Faulkner prefigures and paves the way for the more permeable cultural visions that characterise postcolonial epics of diaspora.
