How is it possible to do research on an artist whose practice is essentially centred around concepts of alterity, encounters and movement? For whom the notion of experience is central. Leonilson (1957-1993) painted, embroidered and wrote, but his pieces were first and foremost autobiographical narratives that could only come to be via encounters.
