Este texto aborda el Palacio Real de Valencia como espacio cortesano y sitio real, no sólo en su evolución desde una almunia musulmana del siglo XIII hasta un palacio renacentista, sino también su relación con otros espacios de poder de la capital de Reino de Valencia, de carácter religioso, comercial e incluso espacios urbanos. Las largas estancias o las cortas visitas reales trasladaban la fiesta a otros entornos y los capitalizaban. El texto analiza el Real de Valencia como espacio donde convergían muchos de los rituales, ceremonias y festejos de la ciudad de Valencia tanto religiosos como políticos, o bien en el denominado llano del Real o bien en sus salones, que sufrieron importantes transformaciones en estas ocasiones. El recorrido finaliza con la transformación de la corte valenciana, pues tras la unión de reinos bajo los Austrias, de ser un palacio real de la Corona de Aragón pasó a ser ocupado sólo ocasionalmente por los monarcas en sus visitas y convertirse en residencia de los virreyes y lugartenientes del reino.

The article deals with the Royal Palace of Valencia as a courtly space and Sitio Real, not only in its evolution from a 13th century Muslim almunia to a Renaissance palace, but also its relationship with other spaces of power in the capital of the Kingdom of Valencia, religious, commercial, and even urban spaces. Long stays or short royal visits also transferred the festival to other environments and capitalized on them. The text analyses the Real de Valencia as a space where many of the rituals, ceremonies, and festivities of the city of Valencia converged, both religious and political, either in the square in front of the Real or in its halls, which underwent important transformations on these occasions. The tour ends with the transformation of the Valencian court, since after the union of kingdoms under the Habsburgs, from being a royal palace of the Crown of Aragon, it was occupied only occasionally by the monarchs on their visits and became the residence of the viceroys and lieutenants of the kingdom.
