O mito da “cidade partida”: análise relacional de favelas e bairros no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

O presente artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre as relações e vínculos que moradores de duas favelas vizinhas estabelecem com os bairros nos quais estão localizadas na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. A partir do material de quatro entrevistas semiestruturadas, o trabalho busca pensar a forma como esses antigos moradores das duas favelas percebem a sua circulação pelos bairros, perpassada por vínculos empregatícios, afetivos e de pertencimento. Nesse trabalho, o foco foi tirado das favelas em si e colocado nas íntimas vinculações entre elas e os bairros em que se localizam, destacando-se os entrecruzamentos econômicos e sociais, que são condicionantes de sua existência. O presente trabalho objetiva, portanto, trazer elementos empíricos que contribuam para a já antiga problematização de uma perspectiva dualista da cidade, questionando o mito da “cidade partida”.

This article aims to reflect on the relationships and bonds that residents of two neighboring favelas in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil have established with the neighborhoods in which they are located. Based on the material of four semi-structured interviews, the work seeks to examine how these former residents of the two favelas perceive their movement through the neighborhoods, as related to their ties of employment, affection and belonging. In this work, the focus was taken away from the favelas themselves and placed on the intimate links between them and the neighborhoods in which they are located, highlighting the economic and social intersections, which are determinants for their existence. The present work aims, therefore, to bring empirical elements that contribute to the already old problematization of a dualistic perspective of the city, questioning the myth of the “broken city”.
