Pendant la guerre civile espagnole (1936-1939), la campagne idéologique et de propagande déclenchée par les différents secteurs nationaliste, phalangiste et traditionaliste dans le Movimiento Nacional Español s’appuie sur une production relativement abondante de romans de «guerre» qui constituent un genre hybride, à mi chemin entre le témoignage, le récit autobiographique, l’épopée. Destinés à toutes les classes sociales et distribués grâce à une solide infrastructure éditoriale, ils reflètent la violence des affrontements et l’exaltation des valeurs de la «croisade» et du nationalcatholicisme.

During the Spanish civil war (1936-1939) the ideological campaign and the propaganda organized by the right-wing parties (Falangists and Traditionalists) in the Movimiento Nacional Español was supported by a significantly abundant publication of “war novels”. Most of the time these novels were a blend of different features and styles: testimonial, autobiographical and epic. They benefited from the extended network of publishing houses in the national zone and were read by different social classes.
