La construction d’un marché identitaire est subordonnée à la convergence d’entreprises pour le moins disparates dont le but, implicite quelquefois, est de mobiliser autour d’un certain nombre de schèmes ressortissant au « kit identitaire » qui contribua à la stato-nationalisation des populations à compter du xixe siècle. La Bretagne peut être considérée comme un terrain d’observation de ce processus polymorphe tant elle est l’objet, depuis les années 1970, d’une réification de nature idéologique. Le but de cet article est de cheminer à l’intérieur de ces discours qui émanent de très nombreux agents, d’essayer de déterminer comment l’identité en tant que lieu commun sécrète sans cesse de l’identification et comment le Conseil régional de Bretagne, à travers sa politique culturelle en particulier, s’en fait aussi, sous couvert d’une neutralisation des enjeux, le grand orchestrateur.

The construction of an identity market is contingent on the convergence of highly disparate enterprises whose (sometimes implicit) aim is to mobilise around a number of schemas that emerged from the ‘identity kit’ that contributed to the nationalisation of populations from the 19th century onwards. Brittany can be considered as a field of observation for this polymorphous process because it has been the subject of an ideological reification since the 1970s. The aim of this article is to explore these discourses, which come from many different agents, and try to determine how, as a commonplace, identity constantly secretes identification. In addition, it will examine how the Conseil Régional de Bretagne (regional council of Brittany), through its cultural policy in particular, acts as the great orchestrator of this process under the guise of neutralising the issues.
