This paper investigates the Breton word for ‘miller’, meliner, miliner. At first sight, it appears to be a completely regular derivative formed with -er deriving from Latin ‑ārius. However, an investigation of the relevant forms reveals that this is not the case. Rather, the attested forms point to a derivative with the rarer agent noun suffix deriving from Latin ‑ātor.

Cet article étudie le mot breton pour « meunier », meliner, miliner. À première vue, il semble être un dérivé tout à fait régulier formé de -er dérivant du latin -ārius. Cependant, une enquête sur les formes pertinentes révèle que ce n'est pas le cas. Les formes attestées indiquent plutôt un dérivé avec le suffixe de nom d'agent, plus rare, dérivant du latin ‑ātor.
