Trois coups d’œil rapides sur la situation sociolinguistique dans les Alpes centrales (Grisons, Tyrol du Sud/Haut-Adige, Carinthie méridionale)

Le format de cette communication ne permet pas d’explorer à fond les situations sociolinguistiquement complexes des trois régions des Alpes centrales, contiguës bien qu’appartenant à différents États, qui seront abordées dans ce travail : celles des Grisons en Suisse, quadrilingue, avec sa diglossie intra-allemande, le romanche et l’italien ; celle du Tyrol du Sud en Italie, trilingue, où l’on parle allemand, italien et ladin ; enfin la Carinthie méridionale en Autriche, bilingue allemand et slovène. Un bref rappel de l’histoire de ces territoires permettra de mieux saisir la situation sociolinguistique intriquée de cette région.

The format of this paper does not allow for a thorough exploration of the complex sociolinguistic situations of the three regions of the Central Alps, which are contiguous although belonging to different states, and which will be addressed in this work: the quadrilingual Grisons in Switzerland, with its intra-German diglossia, Romansh and Italian; the trilingual South Tyrol in Italy, where German, Italian and Ladin are spoken; and finally, the bilingual South Carinthia in Austria, where both German and Slovenian are spoken. A brief review of the history of these territories will give a better understanding of the interlinked sociolinguistic situation of this region.
