Vulci non ha più una vera identità. L’antica “città dei vivi”, rievocata anche dal poeta Giuseppe Ungaretti, resta per lo più sottoterra; quella “dei morti” è stata depredata e i suoi tesori sono disseminati nei maggiori musei mondiali. Avviato nel 2020, il progetto Vulci Nel Mondo si propone di favorire la ricostruzione di questa identità perduta attraverso un database multimediale accessibile gratuitamente (www.vulcinelmondo.com), un museo virtuale del patrimonio disperso, l’aggregazione delle risorse disponibili. E si prepara già alle sfide (e alle opportunità) del Metaverso.

Vulci has lost its distinct identity. The ancient "City of the Living," immortalized by the poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, largely remains undiscovered underground. Meanwhile, the "City of the Dead" has been looted, with its valuable artifacts now displayed in major museums around the world. Initiated in 2020, the Vulci Nel Mondo project seeks to rebuild this lost identity. It does so through a freely accessible multimedia database (www.vulcinelmondo.com), a virtual museum featuring the dispersed heritage, and by bringing together available resources. The project is also gearing up to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the emerging Metaverse.
