Jan Tinbergen was undoubtedly one of the most influential economists of the 20th century. Tinbergen was founder of macroeconomic modelling and the first Nobel laureate in economics in 1969, along with Ragnar Frisch, for his pioneering work in econometrics. As such, Tinbergen had a huge influence on the development of the practice of economists after World War II.
