Cet article se propose d’évaluer le rôle fondamental de la liminalité dans l’élaboration et la motivation d’une architecture relationnelle du paysage. Articulé à la faveur des trois composantes d’implication mutuelle que sont le corps, le monde et la limite, le propos incite à réévaluer en profondeur la compréhension de l’inscription de l’homme sur la Terre, et réciproquement – comme une forme d’anticipation à leur réconciliation. La réflexion amène en toute fin d’analyse à la refonte d’une éthique paysagère appréhendée à la lumière de ce champ relationnel – dans un mouvement continuel entre l’ici et l’ailleurs, le moi et l’autre, l’esprit et la matière, le dedans et le dehors, l’inerte et le vivant (liste non close).

This paper aims to consider the fondamental role of liminality in the elaboration and motivation of a relational landscape architecture. Articulated around three mutually implicated components - the body, the world, the threshold – the article is an invitation to profoundly re-evaluate our understanding of humankind’s inscription on Earth as well as Earth’s inscription on humankind - on the way to their reconciliation. In light of this dynamic involvement, the discussion leads to a renewed idea of landscape ethics – in perpetual motion between the here and there, the mind and the flesh, the self and the other, the inside and the outside, the animate and the inanimate.
