L’œuvre de l’architecte Antoni Gaudí a souvent été interprétée à ses débuts à travers des aspects biographiques de cette forte personnalité. Interprétation qui a longtemps perduré et que l’on retrouve encore dans bien des monographies et études récentes sur cet artiste. Ces vingt dernières années, ce sont essentiellement deux approches différentes qui ont prédominé et ont ouvert le champ de la recherche : d’une part, l’insertion de l’architecte dans son époque, en le reliant aux contextes économiques, sociaux et culturels au sein desquels il s’est formé et a exercé sa profession. D’autre part, une étude détaillée des aspects techniques et constructifs de son œuvre. Actuellement, cette approche exhaustive et scientifique de l’architecte pâtit d’un travers persistant qui consiste à faire de l’architecte et de son œuvre un objet d’attrait touristique ou de dévotion.
The work of architect Antoni Gaudí was often understood, in the early years of his career, in light of certain biographical elements and his imposing personality, an interpretation that persisted for many years and that can still be found in a number of monographs and recent studies on the artist. Over the past twenty years, two different approaches have dominated research on Gaudí and expanded its breadth. While many studies seek to pinpoint the place of the architect in his own time by connecting him to the economic, social, and cultural contexts in which he learned and practiced his profession, others focus on the technical and structural aspects of his work. Today, the exhaustive, scientific work carried out suffers from a recurring problem, namely the transformation of the architect and his work into a tourist attraction or into an object of devotion.
Das Werk des Architekten Antoni Gaudí wurde anfangs häufig aus der Sicht der biographischen Aspekte interpretiert. Diese Interpretation hat sich lange gehalten und charakterisiert auch heute noch zahlreiche Monographien und Aufsätze, die sich mit dem Künstler befassen. Während der letzten zwanzig Jahre haben sich jedoch zunehmend zwei neue Ansätze auf diesem Forschungsgebiet durchgesetzt: einerseits die Eingliederung des Architekten in seinen historischen Kontext, unter Berücksichtigung wirtschaftlicher, sozialer und kultureller Zusammenhänge, die Gaudís Werdegang bestimmt haben; anderseits die detaillierte Betrachtung der technischen und konstruktiven Aspekte seines Werkes. Dieser allumfassende wissenschaftliche Blick leidet jedoch momentan noch unter dem sich hartnäckig haltenden Bild des Architekten und seines Werkes als Touristenattraktion und Objekt der Verklärung.
L’opera dell’architetto Antoni Gaudì è stata spesso letta inizialmente attraverso alcuni aspetti biografici della sua forte personalità – un’interpretazione che ha perdurato a lungo, e che si ritrova ancora in numerose monografie e studi recenti dedicati all’artista. In questi ultimi vent’anni, due sono gli approcci che hanno essenzialmente dominato e aperto il campo di ricerca: da un lato la ricollocazione dell’architetto nella propria epoca, in particolare nel contesto economico, sociale e culturale in seno ai quali si è formato ed ha esercitato la professione; dall’altro uno studio approfondito degli aspetti tecnici e costruttivi della sua opera. Attualmente questo approccio esaustivo e scientificamente fondato risente di una persistente tendenza a ridurre l’architetto e la sua opera a mero fenomeno di attrazione turistica o di culto.
La obra del arquitecto Antoni Gaudí fue interpretada en sus inicios con una gran inclinación hacia aspectos biográficos de su potente personalidad. Esta interpretación se mantuvo durante largo tiempo, alcanzando todavía a muchas de las monografías y estudios actuales sobre el artista. En los últimos veinte años se han desarrollado principalmente dos aproximaciones distintas que han abierto el campo de investigación. Por un lado, la contextualización del arquitecto en su época, vinculándolo con los ámbitos económicos, sociales y culturales en que se formó y desarrolló su profesión. Por otro lado, con un estudio detallado de los aspectos técnicos y constructivos de su obra. En la actualidad esta aproximación exhaustiva y científica al arquitecto sufre un constante acoso por la conversión del arquitecto y su obra en objeto turístico o de devoción.
