L’objet de cet article est de montrer l’historicité du genre en sciences humaines et sociales au Sénégal, via la manière dont certaines chercheuses l’ont intégré dans le champ universitaire et, par conséquent, ses applications très récentes dans certaines formations diplômantes. Par ailleurs, plusieurs approches du genre seront explorées, quelques-unes montrant un détachement absolu de toute empreinte occidentale, d’autres évacuant l’aspect dualiste masculin/féminin, voire l’éventuelle opposition homme-femme. Enfin, les nuances et complexités conférées à ce terme, tant dans la recherche que dans la vie quotidienne, seront questionnées. À l’identique, le genre sera repensé au vu de ce que des femmes immigrées vivant en France et originaires du Sénégal expriment via des actions publiques et collectives.

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the historicity of the gender in the social sciences and humanities in Senegal, through the manner in which some researchers have integrated gender into the academic field and therefore its most recent applications in certain degree programs. Similarly, we will explore several approaches about gender, some showing an absolute detachment from any Western influence, others getting over the aspect of the male/female duality, and even a possible opposition between man/woman. Finally, the nuances and complexities conferred to this term in research and in everyday life will be questioned. In the same way, gender will be reconsidered in light of what migrant women living in France and from Senegal said, in recent years, through public and collective actions.
