L’ordinateur portable en soins à domicile : l’espace interactionnel soignant/soigné en mutation

Nous présenterons ici une recherche menée auprès de professionnels de la santé utilisateurs d’un ordinateur portable en soins à domicile. À partir d’extraits d’entrevues et en mobilisant la notion de « territoire », nous montrerons en quoi la présence d’un ordinateur portable en soins à domicile modifie l’environnement de travail du soignant et agit — d’une certaine manière — sur la relation soignant/soigné. Qui plus est, l’ordinateur contribue à transformer à la fois la structure de l’action des soignants et leur environnement travail. Ainsi modifie-t-il les relations interindividuelles en agissant comme médiateur dans la mesure où il s’interpose entre le soignant et le soigné. Finalement, dans cette dynamique interactionnelle, se pose la question des rituels et du territoire d’interactions.

We present here the results of a study among healthcare providers using PCs in home care settings. Based on a series of interviews, we apply the notion of “territoire” (ground) in order to show how the presence of the laptop computer in home care changes the work environment of the caregiver, influencing also in some way the relationship between the provider and the patient. The PC transforms the practice structure of caregivers and their work context. The computer changes therefore the relations between individuals, acting as a mediator between the caregiver and the patient, reminding us that this new interaction dynamic questions the rituals and the ground of interaction.
