Pour comprendre comment la proposition de Sohn-Rethel se distingue de celle de Kant, nous développons d’abord une version plausible de l’interprétation qu’offre Sohn-Rethel de la relation entre genèse et validité des catégories chez Kant. Dès lors, il semblerait que deux possibilités se présentent pour l’alternative sohn-rethelienne : soit on limite, à la façon d’une théorie du consensus, la validité des catégories aux sociétés marchandes, soit elle n’est en aucune manière affectée par la genèse. Dans cet article, nous proposons de lire la théorie de Sohn-Rethel comme une explication et une critique de la colonisation des ontologies des expériences vécues par des abstractions issues des pratiques scientifiques.

Um zu verstehen, wie sich Sohn-Rethels Vorschlag der Rekonstruktion der Denkformen von demjenigen Kants abhebt, wird zunächst eine plausible Version von Sohn-Rethels Interpretation des Verhältnisses von Genesis und Geltung der Kategorien bei Kant entwickelt. Für Sohn-Rethels Gegenvorschlag scheinen sich dann zwei Möglichkeiten aufzutun: Entweder wird die Geltung der Kategorien konsenstheoretisch auf Gesellschaften beschränkt, in denen der Warentausch vorherrschend ist, oder sie bleibt von der Genesis völlig unbeeinträchtigt. Der Artikel schlägt eine Lesart vor, wonach Sohn-Rethels Theorie die Kolonialisierung lebensweltlicher Ontologien durch Abstraktionen naturwissenschaftlicher Praktiken erklärt und kritisiert.

In order to understand how Alfred Sohn-Rethel’s proposal differs from Kant’s, the author first develops a plausible version of Sohn-Rethel’s interpretation of the relation between the genesis and validity of categories in Kant’s thought. Two ways then seem to open up for Sohn-Rethel’s counter-proposal: Either the validity of categories is limited to societies in which commodity exchange is predominant by way of a consensus theory of truth, or their origin simply does not affect their validity. The author proposes to read Sohn-Rethel’s theory as an explanation and a critique of the colonisation of lifeworld ontologies by abstractions derived from natural science practices.
