Sarah Fielding (1706-1768) had a literary career that was at once impressively diverse, and instrumental to our collective understanding of the development of English prose fiction, for adults and children. Two centuries of near-obscurity after her death were followed by many significant new studies and approaches to her life and writing, published by anglo-american critics.
