État des lieux à Tell Umm el-ʿAmr (bande de Gaza) : la question des baptistères

Depuis la fin des années 1990, quatre baptistères ont été identifiés sur le site archéologique du monastère de Tell Umm el-ʿAmr situé au centre de la bande de Gaza. Ils s’échelonnent dans le temps entre les ve et vie siècles. Leur étude montre que leurs déplacements et transformations sont liés aux différents programmes architecturaux de développement du sanctuaire. Cet article est une première synthèse qui traite de la question des baptistères du monastère de Saint Hilarion. Il pose la question du rôle du monastère, lieu voué à la vénération des reliques, dans les campagnes de conversions menées au courant des ve et vie siècles entre le sud de Gaza et l’Égypte.

Tell Um el-ʿAmr (Gaza): A survey of the baptisteriesSince the late 1990s, four baptisteries have been identified at the archaeological site of the Tell Umm el-ʿAmr monastery in the central Gaza Strip. They span in time between the 5th and 6th centuries. Their study shows that their movements and transformations are linked to the different architectural development programs of the sanctuary. This article is a first synthesis which deals with the question of the baptistery of the monastery of Saint Hilarion. It asks the question of the role of the monastery, a place dedicated to the veneration of relics, in the conversion campaigns carried out during the 5th and 6th centuries between southern Gaza and Egypt.

الحالة الراهنة لدير تل أم عامر (قطاع غزة): مسألة المعموديات تم حديد أربعة معموديات في الموقع الأثري لدير تل أم عامر وسط قطاع غزة منذ نهاية التسعينيات، التي يتراوح تأريخها بين القرنين الخامس والسادس. تبين دراستها أن نقلها وتعديلها كان مرتبطاً بالبرامج المعمارية المختلفة لتطوير الدير. هذا المقال هو أول ملخص يتناول مسألة معمودية دير القديس هيلاريون، وكذلك دور الدير، الذي كان مخصصاً لتبجيل رفات القديس، في حملات التبشير التي جرت خلال القرنين الخامس والسادس بين جنوب غزة ومصر.
