Plan « fixe ». Ida est un récit d’initiation : l’héroïne principale quitte le couvent dans lequel elle a grandi pour partir à la recherche de son identité, dans une quête mémorielle qu’elle mènera avec sa tante, seule parente encore en vie. En effet, Ida (qui pensait jusqu’ici s’appeler Anna) découvre auprès de sa tante ses origines juives et les circonstances de la disparition de ses parents dont elle va chercher à retrouver les corps.

Still Frame. Ida is an initiation story. The main heroine leaves the convent where she grew up in search of her identity, through a memorial search she goes on with her aunt, her only living relative. Indeed, Ida (who had thought up until then that her name was Anna) learns from her aunt of her Jewish origins and the circumstances of her parents’ disappearance, whose bodies she will seek to locate.

Stilstaand beeld. Ida is een ontwikkelingsverhaal: het hoofdpersonage verlaat het klooster waar ze is opgegroeid en gaat op zoek naar haar identiteit. In deze herinneringszoektocht wordt ze bijgestaan door haar tante, haar enige nog levende familielid. Ida (die altijd heeft gedacht dat ze Anna heette) ontdekt zo haar Joodse roots en de omstandigheden van de verdwijning van haar ouders, wier lichamen ze vastberaden is terug te vinden.
