Matt Gallagher is a US Army veteran who served in Iraq in 2007-2009. He is the author of the novels Empire City (2020) and Youngblood (2016), a finalist for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. His work has appeared in Esquire, ESPN, The New York Times and The Paris Review, among other places. He is also the author of the Iraq war memoir Kaboom (2010) and lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his family.
