Matt Gallagher is a US Army veteran who served in Iraq in 2007-2009. He is the author of the novels Empire City (2020) and Youngblood (2016), a finalist for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. His work has appeared in Esquire, ESPN, The New York Times and The Paris Review, among other places.
