This edition of Copernicus’s major work, probably the last for the foreseeable future, represents the culmination of efforts that can be traced back to 1973. The two fundamental sources of De revolutionibus are Copernicus’s autograph copy which survived by sheer luck and the first edition published in Nuremberg in 1543.
