Introduction: The Rise of (Digital P)KM Tools Tools for Thought (TfTs) are cognitive aids that extend our mental capabilities. Narrowly defined, they refer to digital note-taking or thinking tools such as Obsidian, Evernote, or Notion. More broadly, they encompass anything that helps us think more clearly—from written language and spreadsheets to diagrams and mind maps (Altshuler, 2022, Siegel, 2024). Especially, digital TfTs help externalize thought, connect ideas, and make them actionable....
