Résumé 0

Andrea Bruschi reviews the spread of modern vernaculars of French in the education of the French nobility. Although an increasing number of texts were translated from ancient languages, mostly Latin, into modern languages which made it easier to study these disciplines, members of the elite were still expected to have mastered more than one vernacular so they were able to travel.
