Vovin (2009: 135–136) claims that Old Japanese tuti "earth" is a loanword from Korean; he reconstructs Proto-Korean *twùnté "earth". While I agree that tuti is a Korean loanword, I have to point out that probably neither the Korean nor the Japanese word had "earth" as its original meaning.
