At least since the Middle Ages, the festival of Hanukkah has been strongly connected to the apocryphal Book of Judith. The hymn for Hanukkah, Odecha ki Anafta Bi (I give thanks to you although you were angry with me), was composed by Joseph ben Solomon of Carcassonne in the 11th century.
