One of the foci of the Khaybar Longue Durée Archaeological Project, the study of a major oasis in northwest Arabia, characterised by fertile spring-fed wadis, filled with date gardens, cutting through the basalt geology of the volcanic Harrat Khaybar (fig. 1), is the investigation of its Islamic past.
