En prenant pour objet d’étude l’ANPE Spectacle de Paris, l’auteur examine dans cet article les enjeux propres à l’intervention d’un service public investi d’une mission d’intermédiation sur les marchés du travail artistique, dont les caractéristiques sont a priori éloignées des marchés du travail habituellement investis par l’agence. À partir d’une enquête socio-historique combinant archives administratives et entretiens, il met au jour l’équivocité des objectifs qui président à l’encadrement bureaucratique des positions d’agents artistiques privés d’une part, et à la restriction des conditions d’accès à cette agence spécialisée d’autre part.

Portrait of a public service as an intermediary: the ANPE Spectacle in ParisIn his study of the Paris ANPE Spectacle, the author seeks to examine the stakes inherent to the intervention of a public service invested as intermediary in the art job market, the characteristics of which being rather remote from those of job markets usually dealt with by the agency. Based on a socio-historic survey combining both administrative archives and interviews, the article brings to light the equivocal character of the objectives which preside the bureaucratic framing of private art agents on the one hand, as well as access restrictions to this specialised agency on the other hand.
