The ETPAF survey aims to gain a better understanding of how national feelings or 'identities' are reproduced, and with them, in accordance with Michael Billig's theory of banal nationalism, nationalism. The very first results show both the variety of forms taken by the naturalisation of the nation in France, and some common features of this particular (French) nationalism. We can also see how parents are key players in banal nationalism, notably by translating the national messages contained in cultural products aimed at their children.

L'enquête ETPAF vise à mieux comprendre comment se reproduisent les sentiments ou les «identités» nationales, et avec elles, conformément à la théorie du nationalisme banal de Michael Billig, le nationalisme. Les tous premiers résultats font apparaître à la fois la variété des formes que prend la naturalisation de la nation en France, et quelques traits commun à ce nationalisme particulier (le nationalisme français). On voit aussi comment les parents, notamment en traduisant les signalements nationaux contenus dans les produits culturels à destination de leurs enfants, sont bien des acteurs clés du nationalisme banal.
